As humans, we all want to succeed, but often times, we don’t seem to know where to start. First let’s establish a workable definition of success. Here’s my definition: “Success” is about working hard consistently, making difficult choices and outlasting my competition.
Success can also be making progress small or big. And it comes down to how intentional we’re about our goals. When making plans, we must think big. When making progress, we must think small. Because, it’s easy to get overwhelmed if we have Herculean targets in front of us that are too big to conquer.
Goals that nurture the soul are the ones that test our endurance and perseverance. Think the legacy you will leave behind, while also keeping in mind if you’re driven with passion and purpose while working on those meaningful tasks.
Being intentional about our success looks like this in action. We must assess ourselves with periodic milestones. We must exercise our discretion and not go by group think. We must know that we have a choice to react or respond at every situation.
We must allow our powerful inner strength of intuition to guide us. Embracing mindfulness lets us be in the now with all our faculties fully present. We can gauge how others live their lives and we can also measure the value of our contributions.

When obstacles arise, we must reframe our thinking – how bad or worse can this get, what can I do to solve this rather than ruminate on the negative situation. Where attention goes, energy flows. So make sure you reset your priorities once in a while.
Life’s worth fighting for if we can see meaning in it. But, for many of us the gap between self-acceptance and self-embrace is a very long journey. We judge ourselves often, we can’t see value in what we do, and find it hard to battle self-doubt when we set out to accomplish something.
But it’s a route we must take if we plan to become caring and contributing citizens of the world. Along the way, there are many ways we can redeem ourselves every time we make a mistake. After all, success is the world knowing what you already know about yourself.
At the end of the day, we hold our own blueprint for a successful and happy life. Where we live every day tapping into our highest potential.
How much have you lived with contentment, commitment, and contribution? How actively are you creating each brick that will build your legacy?
After reading all this, how will you define success now? How do you plan to turn yourself into a compassionate, connected and contributing citizen of the world?
