The New Opportunity Test: Professional Commitments
This concept called the New Opportunity Test is designed for evaluating professional commitments. This is from the book, The 5 Types of Wealth by Sahil Bloom. The test begins by determining if the opportunity aligns with one’s priority professional goals. If it does, the next step is to assess if it evokes a strong positive reaction, described as a “hell yeah!” opportunity. If it does not meet this enthusiastic criterion, the advice is to decline.
Finally, even if it’s a “hell yeah!”, one should consider if they would still pursue it even if it took twice as long and yielded half the expected reward, offering a final layer of scrutiny before acceptance.
