You left —
But the laughter never did.
Those memories are never silent.
Even when our feet walked the tree-lined campus,
Our heads were conquering the world
With the courage of our glorious dreams.
Giggles over boring lectures,
Destroying the benches
With doodles of our crushes.
The echoes of our youth are beckoning;
Our old days are here on demand.
That invisible thread tugs at us harder now —
The one that kept us connected
Across the years.
Let’s show each other our light;
How else will we find
Our young, dreamy-eyed selves?
We might still not know where we’re going,
But bring that burning fire
That’s inside of you.
And just like last time,
No caps and gowns needed.
Wherever you are,
My friend,
I will meet you.
Because whenever we met,
It always felt like a sunny day —
Or like we were standing
Under a rainbow.
Back then,
We tried to show the world
How cool we were;
Now we return,
Humbled by all that life has taught us.
Come, friend,
We must also celebrate those
Who will never make it
To this reunion hall.
