My Humble Tribute To The Carnatic Music Trio

Hi everyone, welcome. I’m learning bhajan music as a way to deepen my meditation practice through the power of music. Please note that these compositions are not necessarily categorized as Carnatic music. However, I offer them with deep reverence and would like to dedicate my songs to the Carnatic Music Trinity of Tyagaraja, Muthuswami Dikshitar, and Syama Sastri, three 18th-19th century composer-musicians from Thiruvarur.

Tyagaraja, the most famous, focused on devotion to Lord Rama, introducing innovations like sangatis (variations) and composing the famous Pancharatna Kritis, forming the bedrock of Carnatic teaching and performance.

Their collective work marked a significant shift, adding depth and structure to existing Carnatic traditions. Their compositions are fundamental to learning Carnatic music, teaching ragas, talas, and emotive expression. Tyagaraja, in particular, exemplified music as a path to spiritual realization, rejecting material gain. Together, they created thousands of musical masterpieces, forming the core repertoire and guiding principles of modern Carnatic music.

Thank you for listening!
