AGI Access Dispute: OpenAI Versus Microsoft 🤖

 

A recent paper from OpenAI regarding the classification of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) has ignited a dispute with Microsoft. The core of the conflict stems from a contractual clause stipulating that Microsoft’s access to new OpenAI technology ceases once AGI is achieved. Microsoft seeks to eliminate this clause, fearing exclusion, while OpenAI views it as a valuable bargaining chip.

The paper itself defines five levels of AI without definitively classifying AGI, further exacerbating internal tensions between the two entities. Ultimately, OpenAI anticipates imminent AGI realization, a perspective Microsoft does not share.
