Students & Mobile Phones: A 25-Year Habit 📱
A recent UK study by Fluid Focus highlights a startling trend: students across schools, colleges, and universities are spending an average of 5 hours and 30 minutes each day on their smartphones. If this pattern continues, today’s youth could end up spending the equivalent of 25 years of their lives staring at their screens.
The report raises alarms about the long-term consequences of such excessive phone use, linking it to declining academic performance, shrinking attention spans, disrupted sleep, and weakened real-world relationships. Educators and mental health experts echo these concerns, citing rising levels of social anxiety and diminished focus in classrooms.
Notably, many students themselves admit to feeling the negative effects on their studies and well-being but feel unequipped to break the habit.
