Sam Chapman’s Fight
Sam Chapman, a CEO, shares his personal tragedy of losing his teenage son to a fentanyl-laced counterfeit pill obtained via Snapchat. Driven by this loss, Chapman has become an advocate for Sammy’s Law (H.R. 2657), a bipartisan bill aimed at enhancing child safety on social media platforms. This legislation would mandate that social media companies permit the use of third-party safety software, enabling parents to monitor and receive alerts about potentially harmful activity on their children’s accounts.
Chapman is actively seeking public support by urging people to sign a petition to demonstrate widespread demand for safer online environments for children and to push lawmakers to pass this crucial bill. He believes this collective action can directly influence legislation and prevent similar tragedies from affecting other families.
