There are three types of stressors in life according to The Gita.

 

a. Adi Daivik: These are natural calamities like tornadoes, hurricanes, floods etc.
b. Adi Bhaudik: These are the distresses caused by other humans / loss / diseases / wars / crimes etc
c. Adhyatmik: These meta stressors come from within us leading to anxiety as we worry about our future and depression as we ruminate on the past in regret. Examples: Inertia, lack of faith, insincerity
