Self Compassion Toolkit
Let’s talk about self-compassion and how it can guide us in realizing our full potential
If you friend came to you and said, she has just lost her job and doesn’t know what she will do now to feed her family. You don’t scream at her: you suck, do you?
The problem with self-compassion is that we don’t even have enough of it for ourselves. Because we’re busy giving it away.
Why is self-compassion?
If there were no benefits to loving oneself no one would be encouraged to do it.
STRATEGIES:
Radical Acceptance first. Start from where you are. Acknowledge your journey and be proud of who you’ve become. It is time to celebrate your strengths and understand your weaknesses. Forgive your flaws.
Take stock of how things are. I am sure there are a ton of things that you can feel good about yourself. When you disrespect, criticize and hate yourself, you’re disrespecting everything you’ve done so far.
Embrace how you feel. label your emotions. shame, guilt etc. You’re engaging with it, and diminishing its power.
Indulge in abundance. Love your efforts unconditionally because everyone else is busy to.
Cut your losses. Dig into that chocolate cake, and throw out the rest. you’ve eaten and you’ve had self-control too. take a hike to redeem yourself.
Fix your assumptions. We assume that people don’t like us: nobody has the time to stay on that feeling, because they are so self-absorbed so I won’t even worry about it. Everyone is the center of their galaxy anyway. And let’s say still people are judging, leave it, they don’t have the right to, because they don’t have context.
Read stories of those who’re less fortunate than you. You will get out of your own galaxy and get a broader perspective. See I am not diminishing what you’re going through, but you get the point.
And look at me.
I am super nervous making this video, and my hands are shaking. But that’s the human in me. And I am just as clueless as confident as the person next to me is. So that’s it.
BECAUSE WHAT IS THE ALTERNATIVE?
If we think we have no value, We won’t take care of ourselves, because we feel worthless. We won’t strive to realize our true potential.
COMPASSION CAN GUIDE YOU:
It can be a very important tool that can help every micro and macro decision you make in your daily life.
CONCLUSION:
So starting today, Who you wake up as is who you are.
Permission to do what you want to do .
Pep talk I believe in you.
Its ok to be imperfect. Are you not trying each day?
And life is already such a chore, do you deserve more of this self-inflicted drama??
Instead of self-judging and feelings of inadequacy, empower yourself with self-compassion and dream of the impossible and get started on taking steps to achieve it.
