నన్నల్లుకున్న వెచ్చని కార్డిగన్,
మెత్తని నా అరచేతుల మధ్య పొగలు కక్కే ‘లికరస్’ టీ………..
పౌర హక్కుల్ని పగటికలలుగా కనేందుకు
ఈ నేపథ్యం సహజంగా లేదూ?
నువ్వూ, నేనూ పంచుకున్న ఆకాశం కప్పు క్రింద,
నా గది కిటికీ లో నీ వైపు నుంచి తళుక్కుమంటూ నడిచొస్తున్న నక్షత్రాలు!
కానీ, దైన్యంతో అలసిన నీ ముఖంలోని కన్నీరు మాత్రం
ఈ నేల మీద అగోచరంగానే ఉంది.
తల మీద కప్పుకోసం నువ్వు పేర్చుకుంటున్న క్షణకాలపు ఏర్పాట్లలోనే
నీ జీవితపు చిత్రాలు సాక్షాత్కరిస్తున్నాయి.
అవునూ, అందరికీ ఇంద్రధనస్సుల్ని పట్టుకొచ్చే వాన చినుకులు
నీకు మాత్రం దుఃఖాన్నెందుకిస్తున్నాయి?
ఇక్కడ, నా ఇంటి సింక్ లో స్వచ్ఛమైన నీటి ప్రవాహం మధ్య
గులాబీలను శుభ్ర పరుస్తున్నాను, ముళ్లని జాగ్రత్తగా తప్పించి మరీ….
అక్కడ, నువ్వు దాటుతున్న భౌగోళిక సరిహద్దు ఇనుపకంచై
నిలువునా చీర్చి, నీ శరీరం మీద ఎర్రెర్రని గులాబీల్ని ముద్రిస్తోంది!
ఇక్కడ, నా పెరట్లో జారుడుబల్లలు నిశ్శబ్ద గీతాల్ని ఆలాపిస్తున్నాయి,
పసితనం వదిలి నా పిల్లలు పెద్దరికాన్ని తొడుక్కుంటున్నారు!
అక్కడ, మెర్రీ గోరౌండ్ చుట్టూ కేరింతలైన బాల్యం
అదాటున వచ్చిన యుధ్ధం తాకిడికి చెల్లాచెదరై దుమ్ముగొట్టుకుని గుట్టలై పడుంది.
రాజకీయాలొద్దులే, వాటిని ప్రక్కన పెడదాం.
నేనిక్కడ ఇలా ఉన్నందుకు సదా కృతజ్ఞురాల్ని!
కానీ, నువ్వింకా అక్కడే ఉన్నావన్న వాస్తవం
నన్ను అపరాధిని చేస్తోంది!
ఆకాశం క్రింద ఓ ఆచ్ఛాదన కోసం,
నీ కుటుంబానికి ఓ పూట కడుపు నింపటం కోసం అన్వేషిస్తుంటావ్!
నేను మాత్రం, విలాసంగా
‘గాక్ మోలే’ లో అందమైన రూపులు తొడుక్కున్న చిప్స్ ని నంజుకుంటున్నాను!
ఏదీ, ఈ రాత్రి కాస్త కనురెప్పలు మూత పడేందుకు
రెండు మాత్రల సాయం తీసుకుంటాను.
చెవులు దద్దరిల్లిన యుధ్ధ విమానాల మ్రోతతో రాత్రిని నిద్ర పుచ్చిన నువ్వు,
తెలవారి ఇంకా బ్రతికే ఉన్నందుకు విస్తుబోతావ్!
రేపు నేను తీరిగ్గా సముద్రంలో
చేపలు పట్టేందుకు వెళ్తానేమో.
ఏ అర్థ రాత్రో సరిహద్దు దాటే నిన్ను
ఆ ఉప్పు నీటి ప్రవాహాలు అమాంతం మింగేస్తాయేమో!
తల దాచుకునే నీడ కోసం
ప్రపంచం ఆ చివరికంటా వెదుకులాడే నువ్వు
ఎంత తీరిక లేకుండా ఉన్నావో!
చిత్రంగా, నేనూ అంతే తీరిక లేకుండా ఉన్నాను తెలుసా?
‘నువ్వెక్కడికి?’
అన్న నీ ప్రశ్నకి
జవాబిచ్చే సమయం నాకు లేదు, నిజం!
ఈ జీవిత చక్రం ఆగాలి కదా ముందు!
అప్పుడప్పుడు నన్ను ఒంటరితనం కమ్ముకున్నప్పుడు,
దేవుణ్ణి వెదికేందుకు ఓ క్షణం విరామం తీసుకుంటాను.
సముద్రానికావల ఉన్న నిన్ను ప్రేమిస్తున్నానని
మరికాస్త బిగ్గరగా చెప్పాలనుకుంటాను!
నీలాగే దిగులు పడుతుంటాను,
పిల్లల కోసం….
అయితే, స్వేచ్ఛా విహంగాలై,
హద్దులెరుగక పరుగెడుతున్న వారికోసం సుమా!
సమాజం పిలుస్తోంది,
నీ హక్కులకోసం తనతో కలిసి పోరాడేందుకు రమ్మని!
‘ఉష్… ముందు నా ఇల్లు చక్కబెట్టాలి కదా’ అంటూ జోకొడుతున్నాను.
ఎవరు కాదనలేనిది కదూ ఈ అస్త్రం?
తెలుసు, ప్రశాంతంగా బ్రతికేందుకు
నువ్వు పడే యాతన,
నీ పట్ల నాకు ప్రేమ లేకపోలేదు.
అవును, అపరిచితుల్ని ఎవరినైనా నేను అచ్చం ఒక్కలాగే ప్రేమిస్తాను!
మనం స్నేహితులమన్న నీ అభిప్రాయాన్ని నీరుకార్చనీ,
నా గుమ్మంలో కొచ్చిన నీ ముందు
నేను ఏనాడూ నీ హక్కుల కోసం
పోరాడనేలేదన్నట్టు నటిస్తాను.
ఎందుకో తెలుసా?
నేను నేనే!
నాకు అంతా నేనే!
నీలాటి వేలాది మంది నాకేమీ కారు కనుక!

నా పిల్లలకి అ, ఆ లు నేర్పే క్రమంలో ఆ అక్షరాలతో వాళ్ల అందమైన ప్రయోగాలు నన్ను బోధన వైపు లాక్కెళ్లాయి. నా భవిష్యత్తు ఇంత అందంగా వాళ్లే రాసేరనిపిస్తుంది. వాళ్లకేమివ్వగలను? నేను నేనుగా మిగిలే ప్రయత్నంలో సహచరుడి చిరునవ్వూ తోడుంది.

Original is good.
The Telugu version is much better. The English version seemed lackluster and with mind boggling neologisms (undead) and head spinning analogies (life’s treadmill).
Small piece of advice, try, just try once, to write for yourself….. not to make a point, not to be riveting or intellectual or without embellishing or trading simple words for fancy synonyms….. may be you will then understand how liberating and spiritual an experience the art of writing can truly be.
