“What is the value of a love that can’t even save you?”

Thank you for reading my poem where I explore heartbreak, attachment, and the painful courage it takes to choose yourself. This is also an attempt to translate a poem I had originally written in Telugu, you can read it HERE.

The thought of you

fills my lungs like

oceans of breath.

But the moment it

touches the shore of your memory,

it evaporates —

leaving behind only

the damp lingering of you.

I am angry.

Is there really

nothing I can do

except stay glued

to thoughts of you?

How did you become

a necessity?

Between my attachment

and my longing,

you’ve made me

a slave to dopamine.

Forget losing you,

I’m losing myself.

I play the same songs

over and over.

I don’t know if the world

needs me or not.

I can’t save myself anyway.

Life asks me,

“What is the value of this love

that can’t even save you?”

I surrender

to this distance,

rather than trying

to rescue your loneliness.

But I feel tremors

at the thought

that you might forget this —

that you are not alone.

We were all born into love.

Try remembering

the sound of your mother’s heartbeat.

Time to stop myself.

Time to block you.
