This poem was originally written in Telugu by my mother, Anuradha Nadella. This is her tribute to womanhood, sisterhood, and the enduring strength built through shared bonds of friendship.

Just like the time
when a mother’s love
embraces the entire world,
and the glorious lap of Mother Earth
caresses the dreams of her darling children,

Clothed in optimism
as a boundless flow of the Ganga,
that knows no limits —
On the streets of this universe,
these blooms have
ushered a new spring in their wake.

With smiles that came so effortlessly,
and confidence warmly embraced —
this fertile earth has itself
become another mother’s lap.

Friend,
look around.
This is our garden of delight!

Effortlessly rising
above the world’s contradictions,
dictating the very borders of victory,
forever spreading peace
all around them,

Writing beloved songs
that echo like drum beats
across the globe,
with the sweet music of the mind
accompanying them —

As these daughters of the soil
walk with the graceful gait of the moon,

It seems as though
the sky itself is bending down
over the edge of the horizon
to bless their journey.

Love.
