Some poems are for dreamy addicts. And this is one such poem about ritualized longing and the addictive comfort of surrender. Hope you like it.
i think of you often,
a little more than i should —
just the vertigo of wanting
what ties my hands behind me.
what’s stable about our
relationship is these
compulsive thoughts:
your lips tracing the veins
on my throat,
even with my eyes closed
i can outline your hunger.
in my mind you pin me
with one hand
and unbutton yourself with the other.
i’ll spread a blanket over our heads
so our eyes are the only glow.
let these midriffs stay pressed
while small revolutions
begin to rise within us.
this casual ownership
of yours
sets me on fire.
isn’t that plato who said
even the god of love
lives in a state of need?

About The Article Author:
Hi, I’m Rachana. Its been my dream for years to do something to consciously create a better future where every one of us is excited about our own potential. My challenge to everyone is that they aspire for their personal best and leave a legacy of their work through their contributions to mankind.
One more thing. In December of 2044, I hope to win the Nobel.
Will you join me on this journey of growth and transformation?
Namasté.
