I’m telling you something I’ve not said out loud before, especially in front of my Gen Z children. Gen Z is the absolute GOAT when it comes to hilarious memes and comment trolls on the internet. For example, here’s their take on a Instagram influencers, many of them are “Too young to retire, Too poor to quit and Too fat to strip.” I mean look at this, I can’t compete in humor with these legends LOL
And truth be told, ever since GenZ started having a voice on the internet, we have learnt to cope with everything that happens in the world through memes. And 2025 hasn’t been any different. Here are some of the funniest meme trends that went viral in 2025. Well, my kids want me to specify that these “viral moments” were curated exclusively for middle aged Indian American moms. And they don’t represent how cool their own algorithmic feeds look like.
Oh, well. 🤣
For the uninitiated, welcome to the world of comment replies, memes and brand new words in our dictionary.
Kids and adults spend time scrolling leading to brainrot and how else can Capitalism thrive in the world, but to exploit our human condition with bizarre AI-generated characters with gibberish names becoming brainrot memes. Last week, in Egypt, I was playing catch with a 10 year old with a soft toy and he told me its called Labubu. And later my 17 year explained to me that its a creepy toy character that’s often paired with spooky jokes.
Mia is an AI generated influencer and look at the engagement on her posts. My carefully curated Insta posts get a max of 7 likes LOL.
On Reddit and elsewhere, people forgot that we only have a half a dozen tech lords who will be granting us jobs in the near future. We memed Thiel, Musk and Zuck and of course their interviews and their actions justify how we reacted. 🤣
Men and women didn’t need to be in marriages to fight, they upped each other with sarcasm.
For influencers’ like Kylie Jenner and celebrities’ like Blake Lively and Tom Cruise – their before-and-after pictures made us wonder what they ate to get those results. While other influencers were exposed for their hypocrisy.
We exchanged some profound wisdom about life via comment replies and tweets, while community notes features to cross check facts did their work spectacularly – more like trolling humans for their fake news LOL
We coped with life while discussing dark and funny aspects of our lives with what else, but memes! Coldplay Kiss-Cam controversy happened when an awkward kiss-cam clip turned into endless reactions and text-over captions about “when you pretend to be normal but you’re not.” Two people who are having an affair, but when everything is a meme, the gravitas of the terrible situation and the aftermath is lost. The Cold Play Kiss Cam couple is now a Vincent van Gogh’s painting LOL
There are other things that keep trending on my Twitter feed like Stranger Things, but I don’t have the time or the energy to figure out what’s happening.
Since the middle of the year, we’ve started to hear this dumb number “67” being chanted by school kids and its become this random go-to soundbite for anything that needs to be hyped up.
Since social media needs its own Olympics, we invented the Delulu Olympics. Its a slang for a self-aware delusional pat on the back where people wildly over interpret tiny, meaningless signals. Some examples are “He liked my comment — 🥇 GOLD”, “She watched my story twice — 🥈 SILVER”, “He didn’t block me — 🥉 BRONZE” and “Eye contact lasted 0.3 seconds — WORLD RECORD”.
Aura Farming Meme was born when a clip of a kid dancing confidently surfaced, which is a funny way to describe effortless cool moments IRL. Just search for the Aura farming kid and you will see what I mean.
Here’s hoping 2026 will be top this memefest! 😉
